Our Purpose

At David Reay’s Modern Diner + Tavern, our mission is to improve the happiness of our guests, employees, and the communities in which we serve. We are all about friends, family, fun, and fresh fare using local and regional ingredients. We put a modern spin on the old-school diner experience and specialize in modern comfort food and contemporary elixirs that brings people together for a great time. If you are looking for a perfect blend of home-style cooking and a lively tavern then look no further! Our #1 goal is that you leave our restaurant wanting to come back for more.

The Food

We make most of our menu from scratch using fresh, local & regional ingredients, high-quality cuts of meats, real Wisconsin cheeses, and fresh baked breads. Everything is made-to-order and served in a timely fashion.

Our menu caters to most diets including meat eaters, vegetarians, gluten-free, Atkins, and vegans alike! Don’t forget to check our all-local dessert menu which includes ice cream from the award-winning Pearl Ice Cream Parlor in downtown La Crosse, Wisconsin.

The Drinks

We offer 16 beers on tap mostly made up of Wisconsin and Minnesota craft beers. We have a wide selection of wines, whiskeys, vodkas, tequilas, and bottled beers. Our creative drink program offers unique libations that will quench anyone’s thirst – including homemade sodas!

The Atmosphere

Whether you are looking to have a night out with your family or watch the big game with your friends, we have the perfect atmosphere to suit your needs. With a modern-day, industrial look, you will immediately be taken in by our large fireplace, historical pictures of the greater Onalaska area, great music, several large screen TVs, refurbished barn wood, booth seating in the dining area, high tops in the bar area, black subway tiles, and a 4 season heated patio that overlooks Lake Onalaska. We are confident that you will have a great time when you hang out at David Reay’s!


Location and Hours

We are located right in the heart of downtown Onalaska at Dash-Park on the corner of Main Street and Hwy 35.

Kitchen Hours

The kitchen is open 11am-10pm Sun-Th and 11am-10pm Fri-Sat. Bar is open until 11 pm Sunday-Thursday and Midnight Friday & Saturday.


Parking is available on the street, in the lot across 2nd Ave. / Hwy 35, and at Del’s Service Center (after hours).

When parking at Del’s, please be respectful of their property. Do not park in front of their garage doors or the large gate opening in the back of their lot. They run a busy towing business and they need to have access to their gated parking and to their garage doors 24/7. Parking hours at their lot are Mon-Fri 5pm-Midnight and all-day on Sat and Sun.
